These are understory plants that are well adapted to deep forest shade. More than 1 hour of direct sun can burn the plants, and tends to stunt their growth. Shade grown plants can exceed 7' in height with each leaf 4"-6" wide, or more.
These succulents need to be treated like cacti, being given water every 2-3 weeks. You'll know it's thirsty when the leaves look thin and start to curl inward. Conversely, too much water can trigger root rot.
