"The Star-Spangled Banner" was recognized for official use by United States President Woodrow Wilson in 1916, this antique original WWI Army Song book was published in 1918, and it wasn't until March 3, 1931 that The Star Spangled Banner was made the national anthem by a congressional resolution which was signed by President Herbert Hoover. The first song featured in this World War I Army Song Book "issued by the War Department Commission...with the assistance of the National Committee on Army and Navy Camp Music" is the "The Star-Spangled Banner" and like many of the songs included in this book it presents an honorably detailed military illustration. Unlike other existing copies of this antique piece of U.S. militaria, this 1918 WWI Army Song book is in great condition, with few signs of wear and no writing.
