This 1921 Lincoln wheat penny is over a century old.

The designer of the Lincoln Wheat Penny, including the 1921 issue, was Victor David Brenner. He was a sculptor-engraver who designed the coin to commemorate Abraham Lincoln's 100th birthday in 1909.
.
This 1921 Wheat Penny has Victor David Brenner’s initials "VDB" and is located under Lincoln's shoulder on the obverse side.

Brenner's initials, "VDB", were initially placed on the reverse of the 1909 coin, but this caused some controversy due to their prominence. The initials were removed later in 1909 but were restored in 1918 to the obverse, under Lincoln's shoulder, where they remain today
