This single-ingredient fragrance is meant to bring the wearer love, luck, faith and hope — just as a four-leaf clover does. Christopher Gable and Christopher Brosius are the founders of Demeter. They aim to create fragrances that invoke specific memories in customers. The brand thus focuses on recognizable, natural scents. Each of its perfumes has a linear composition rather than the traditional top, heart and base notes. For its floral fragrances, the brand relies on plant essences. Some of its other fragrances are inspired by foods such as chocolate chip cookies and cinnamon toast, or drinks such as green tea and freshly brewed coffee. To make these scents, Brosius and nose Francis Kurkdjian analyze the air surrounding those delicious items. The company has created hundreds of perfumes along with scented candles, furnishing fragrances and body care products such as oils and soaps. Nearly all of its items are made in America.
