Case is approx 4-inches tall and 3.5-inches wide with flourish carving on front and back. Upon opening, the left side has a burgundy velvet insert with an embossed design. On the right is a portait of a woman, framed behind a gold color oval with a burgundy fabric border. Lower left corner says "Ambrotype by Rehn" and 260 Chestnut St. Lower right corner says "Patented July 4 & 11 1854.
