Antique 1800's Stoneware Jug-Albany Slip Glaze-Thumbprint Handle-Unmarked

This unmarked 19th-century stoneware jug stands approximately 12 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter, with a rich Albany-style glaze and a classic utilitarian shape. The strap handle is hand-applied and features two distinct thumb impressions at the base—clear evidence of traditional craftsmanship. The jug shows honest wear consistent with age and use, including a few stable chips along the rim and one area on the body where the clay lifts slightly beneath the glaze. This is not damage, but a kiln-born irregularity from the original firing process, typical of handmade stoneware from the period. Likely of Midwestern origin, circa 1860–1890, the piece remains structurally sound and visually striking. A true survivor of the everyday—built for function, aged with grit, and still holding its own.
