10 stunning 1891 plates , only 1 cup survived - showing how precious tea sets are 🥲 Set of 10 Antique Victorian Side Plates – Pattern No. 11083 This elegant set of 10 matching side plates dates to the late Victorian period (c. 1870–1891) and once formed part of tea trios. They capture the refinement of the era, with richly detailed decoration that is as beautiful on display as it is practical for serving. The plates feature ornate scrolling borders in beige/burgundy and gilt, offset by sprays of delicately hand-coloured flowers in soft peach, lilac and blue. Each rim is lightly scalloped, adding extra character. The gilding, though showing light age-related wear, still catches the light beautifully. On the underside, the plates carry a hand-painted pattern number “11083” along with small decorator’s marks. The absence of a printed backstamp is consistent with production before 1891, when export wares were first required to carry a country of origin. Based on style and numbering, the plates are likely from a leading Staffordshire or Midlands porcelain maker, such as Brown-Westhead Moore, Coalport, Ridgway (Cauldon), or possibly Royal Worcester. Quantity: 10 side plates Size: approx. 18 cm (7 in) diameter Condition: very good antique condition; light rubbing to gilding commensurate with age, no chips or cracks These plates would make a striking addition to a collector’s cabinet, particularly for those interested in Victorian English porcelain, but they also lend themselves beautifully to modern entertaining or display, where their rich colours and intricate detail can be fully appreciated.
