Secondhand/recycled materials: Breyer Stablemate Mule
Description: I finally got a chance to customize Breyer's Stablemate Mule, and I decided to try a really loud bay appaloosa; the donkey genes make the spots extra-large! I removed his Breyer logo and seams, and then painted him up in Earth Pigments and acrylics with a little colored pencil detail and plenty of sealant--a LOT of work went into this one. His eyes, mouth, and hooves have been glossed.
He has a few tiny specks in his coat so he's not 100% smooth, but you have to look REALLY closely to notice; I'd be tempted to put him on the table at a show. He measures about 2 1/2" tall, and is NOT a toy, but is meant as an art piece and should be handled with care.
