This is a simple story about impoverished college student Raskolnikov, who kills a pawnbroker because he said she cheated people. He is worried about being caught by Porfiry. The main character has many reasons for his crime, each as plausible as the next in his own mind. The tapestry of lives, the real world that Dostoyevsky creates for his novel, it all makes for a brilliant work.
