There are well over 200 types of kachina figures; however, almost no one can identify every single one, as each carver has a different idea as to the appearance and function of each Kachina. There are several popular ones with tourists and Hopi, however. Some of the more popular dolls are the Tasapkachina (Navajo Kachina), Angakchina (Long hair), Hote, and animal dolls such as Bear, Bird, and Mouse. This one appears to be a dancing bird, with feathered arms like wings, as he lifts his legs and dances. He is perched on one foot, in a yellow shoe. This Kachina wears a kilt that appears to be of white hard plastic, rather than cloth. The position is unusual, and the plinth is tilted to support his one foot stance. He is unsigned. Probably 1949 to 1979. Condition is very good. He stands 13 inches tall, is 17 inches wide and 10 inches deep. Because of his unusually large size, he will require a large shipping box, but shipping is included in the price.
