Flower of Evil - Fleurs du Mal in Pattern & Prose
by Beresford Egan and C. Bower Alcock
published by The Sylvan Press, New York, New York, 1946

hardcover (no jacket) in very good used condition

"Flowers of Evil: Fleurs du Mal in Pattern and Prose is a lavish, privately printed limited edition (ca. 1946–47) published by The Sylvan Press in New York. Featuring English prose translations by C. Bower Alcock and boldly illustrated by Beresford Egan in an Art Deco, erotically charged style reminiscent of Aubrey Beardsley, this oversized volume was produced in an edition of around 1,499 copies—some designated as “large paper editions”. Bound in dark faux-leather covered with a sunburst-and-stars pattern, the book includes a preface, 15 drawings, and an index detailing 61 translated passages."
