Reluctantly I am parting ways with one of my most cherished discoveries to date. This fossil of a small member from the pterosauria order was discovered in the Ozarks of Southern Missouri. It was fossilized in a red sandstone which geologist claim was one of the only two rocks with clay being the second from the Cretaceous period which is when this creatures life would have taken place. The fossil is of the large head w/ both upper and lower teeth visible, the vertebrae with one appendage curving back up towards the skull. Multiple small bones of what would have made up the skeletal frame of the wing are also visible. The reverse side of this formation has what appears to be a second fossil all together. I am not able to identify what this might have been but it certainly appears to be a portion of fossilized remains on the surface. I sent all of the info off to an online auction site that specializes in fossils and I was told they would start it out in the $800-$900 for bidding.
