An antique porcelain figurine, early Goebel, pre-Hummel – made by Porzellanfabrik Wilhelm Goebel Oeslau-Wilhelmsfeld/Germany – made in the 1910s – depicting a Dutch boy holding a tobacco pipe, the boy leaning with his back at a hollow tree trunk which serves as a miniature vase for 1 small flower – this Art Nouveau figurine is an object from Goebel's children series, the lovely small girls and boys allowed to forget 1st World War's devastating ravage for some moments – fine porcelain, detailed modelling, with underglaze polychrome painting in tender colours (the colour set reminding of Danish artist's Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen works during Art Nouveau for Bing & Grøndahl and Royal Copenhagen) – the base plate on which the boy stands bears a circumferential tulip frieze.
Size (approx.): Height 11 cm = 4,33 inch; base plate 3,5 x 4,2 cm = 1,38 x 1,65 inch.
Weight: 60 g.
