I made this outside radius block for sanding the bottom side of a guitar nut for Fender style guitar necks. Most guitars have a flat nut underside, however there are several models that actually have a radiused nut and in order to get a new nut to fit, I designed this. It has 4 different radiuses, 7 1/4", 9 1/2", 10" and 12". The through hole in the middle is made to allow you to clamp it with a "C" clamp to your workbench.
So, just add a piece of sticky side sandpaper (I use 120 grit to shape then polish by hand), clamp it to your workbench and slide the nut blank back and forth holding it squarely to the top and side to side. With just a few passes, and some minor touchup, your nut will have the proper radius to fit your guitar neck. I have learned over the years of guitar making/repairs that any tool to help simplify some of the more tedious tasks is a welcome addition to my shop.
