The Yamani Namazu sensu fan features a catfish on the paper leaf. Done in a casual but graceful brush stroke, it embodies the artistic and elevated flare of Japan. The giant Namazu catfish, according to legend, lives under Japan and causes earthquakes with its' tail. Signed in red. A popular Yamani sensu, it normally sells for $30. The second fan basically says "awe-inspiring" in Japanese and "be courageous" in English on the paper leaf. Probably made for a sporting event like sumo. Both fans have natural brown sticks to hold the leaf and measure 15" when open. Handmade. Sells for $15. Got both in Japan about 2003...in good condition. Great on a hot summer day, or as a decorative piece in a stand.
