The French Navy, decimated in World War II, was reorganized after the war with the aid of the American and British forces, and received not only ships but also clothing.
Among them were the N-1 deck jacket and pants.
These garments, with their high cold protection and functionality, were popular with French naval personnel, and were copied and produced by the French military from the 1960s, when the supply and production ended. The early models were khaki, and the late 1970s models were olive green, which greatly influenced the design of the French Navy's deck jackets and pants.
