This is a handmade Chinese Rug in the style of celestial elements. The colors include a striking cinnabar or maybe vermilion background with the contrasting blue in the largest of two borders. The other colors are light blue, light green, pink, white, and flesh.
The statement is one of an ethereal nature and tells a story of calm and peace. This is a an all hand made rug not made in a factory with underpaid labor but in a village shop the kinds of which no longer exist in China. The knots are all wool and the warp and weft are cotton (as with all Chinese rugs).
It is 50 to 75 years old and will last twice that many more.
