Mini Donabe, which is a Japanese earthenware pot traditionally used for cooking at the table. It is known for its ability to retain heat and distribute it evenly, making it ideal for stews, hot pots, and rice dishes. The hole in the center of the lid serves a few important purposes. It helps to release steam during cooking, preventing pressure build-up that could cause the lid to pop off. It also helps to prevent the lid from rattling or shattering due to pressure differences. Additionally, the hole allows for even heat distribution inside the pot, which is essential for cooking evenly. The Donabe has a unique glaze with a blueish-gray hue and a contrasting white rim around the opening. About 4” wide, bowl is about 1 1/2” tall and the lid is about 3 3/4” tall. Small crack in the top of lib. See last picture for details.
