Miyawaki Baisenan

Founded in 1823 (Bunsei 6), "Miyawaki Baisenan" is a long-established folding fan shop that offers all kinds of folding fans, including dance fans used in Japanese dance, summer fans, and traditional decorative fans. Since the Edo period, they have manufactured and sold almost all of their products in-house. Even after the third generation devised decorative fans as crafts, they have continued to pass on the traditions and techniques to this day. Many of the paintings on the fan surfaces of the fans they handle are hand-painted. The products created by the techniques of craftsmen cultivated over many years are highly evaluated for their feel, opening, and ease of use. In 1959, they also have a record of presenting celebratory fans at the wedding of the then Crown Prince. In addition, while it is becoming difficult to secure craftsmen with the times, the company is also focusing on training excellent craftsmen and passing on techniques, and is actively working to spread the tradition and culture of folding fans.
