Print of Vincent Van Gogh's August 1888 "Les Roulottes-campement de bohemiens" (Gypsy Camp near Arles, France). 9" x 7 3/4". Unframed. Les E'ditions Braun and Cie, Paris 1938. Original painting hangs in the Musee d'Orsey in Paris. Van Gogh was drawn to what he perceived as the gypsies' romantic and exotic lifestyle. The paintings brilliant colors parallel their rich and exciting lifestyle. Jean Adolph Braun (1812-1877) was a French photographer best known for his floral still lifes, Parisian street scenes and majestic Alpine landscapes. In later life he used photographic techniques to reproduce famous works of art from the grand masters. "Les Roulottes" is an example of this.
