Very good condition. Fully functional portable mechanical typewriter with carry-case. History: The Olivetti Lettera 32 was introduced in 1963 by the Italian manufacturer Olivetti. The industrial design was led by Marcello Nizzoli (with input from engineers such as Adriano Menicanti and Natale Capellaro), giving it clean lines and a compact form that became iconic. The Lettera 32 was engineered with improved mechanics over the Lettera 22, including refined typebar movement and updated internals for smoother typing. It is a downstrike typebar machine (the arms strike the paper from above), relatively compact for its era—about 34 × 35 × 10 cm—and weighing just under 6 kg. The Lettera 32 quickly became a favorite among journalists, students, and writers due to its reliability, portability, and smooth typing feel. It achieved cultural fame through its use by notable writers and filmmakers. For example: Cormac McCarthy used a Lettera 32 for nearly all his writing. Francis Ford Coppola drafted his screenplay for The Godfather on a Lettera 32. Other authors and creatives—ranging from Sylvia Plath and Leonard Cohen to Philip Roth and Gianni Mura—are also associated with the model’s enduring legacy.
