It's hard to believe we found one. This is an authentic vintage The Berkeley Bag, an iconic hippie fashion item, made by Allen Connelly and sold in his Berkeley store Earthly Goods. They were originally created by Kermit Lynch, who then took up making wine. It's a gorgeous carpet bag, with leather trim and stud accents. Cher owned one. The leather tag identifying it is still intact. It's in great condition, with a tiny bit of fraying, but that is part of the carpet. Ther is patina to the leather.
After Cher got one, they were sold in LA boutiques and I. Magnin etc.
We can't find another like this online.
Connelly's daughter recently sold unfinished bags in Berkeley, but added a cross body strap. This is a shoulder strap, identifying the age and origin.
We're not sure you'll find another.
This is an iconic piece of Hippie-Era Berkeley.
