Signed first edition (print number not stated) oversized hardcover copy of Ananse: The Web of Life in Africa by John Biggers (University of Texas Press, 1962). Text and drawings by Biggers. Signed and inscribed on copyright page. A collection of eighty nine illustrations by the acclaimed African American author and illustrator, with accompanying writings which depict life in Africa in the past and contemporaneously with the book’s publication.
Price clipped jacket now protected in new (removable) archival sleeve but with rubbing/scuffing to faces and wear around the edges, including chipping, creasing and tears, the larger of which have tape adhered to interior side. Some pencil markings to front cover and spine title text. Foxing to top & bottom edges of boards and with corners bumped. A few instances of split binding.
