The silver cross features cut-out tri-lobed leaflets at the end of each beam. A gold-plated Jesus figure contrasts against the silver background. Above Jesus is a circular plaque with a silver cross in the center. The cross inscribes the letters "CSSML" on the upright beam and "NDSMD" on the horizontal beam, translating to "Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux: Non Draco Sit Mihi Dux" which means "May the Holy Cross be My Light: Let Not the Devil be My Guide." The letters CSPB in the four angles around the cross represent "Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti" or "Cross of the Holy Father Benedict."
The outer edge features the inscription "V.R.S.N.S.M.V.-- S.M.Q.L.I.V.B," which translates to "Vade Retro Satana" (Begone Satan), "Nunquam Suade Mihi Vana" (Never Suggest Vain Things to Me), "Sunt Mala Quae Libas" (What You Offer Me is Evil), and "Ipse Venena Bibas" (Drink your own Poison).
