SUGAR CANE
This brand, which bears the name "sugarcane,"
is the first post-war clothing manufacturer in Japan
for the American market.
TOYO ENTERPRISE COMPANY LTD.,
the creator of SUGAR CANE,
was established in 1965,
with the full-scale involvement of the US military in the Vietnam War,
targeting personnel at US military bases in Japan.
Initially, it manufactured clothing for the US military
and also acted as a distribution channel for US military surplus in Japan.
When the Vietnam War ended in 1975,
it transitioned into a clothing manufacturer solely for the domestic market.
At that time, it was named "SUGARCANE" by officers at the US military base.
Although born in Japan,
it grew up catering to US military bases,
and from then until now,
it has continued to create authentic workwear,
mainly using denim,
which is a symbol of American style.
