ーCharacteristics of Tomotake's Mud Dyeingー
Patterns are dyed using the property of the fabric turning black when iron-containing mud is applied by hand to fabric pre-dyed with tannin extracted from Japanese gallnuts, causing the iron and tannin to react. (Items without patterns are dyed by immersion.) The fabric pre-dyed with Japanese gallnut tannin will gradually turn amber over time, while the parts dyed black with iron will change to a gentle brownish-gray. We hope you will enjoy the changing colors as you use it.

【What is Mud Dyeing?】
It is a dyeing method in which fabric pre-dyed with tannin extracted from the Japanese gallnut plant is dyed by hand using mud containing iron.
Mud-dyed fabric develops color over time due to air and light, and fades with friction and the passage of time, changing constantly.
