Handmade, glazed sgraffito redware plate by Cathy Gatch from Turtle Creek Pottery, featuring a "Light Dragoon" soldier on horseback! The design is from an early American pie plate museum piece dated 1750-1850.
During the Revolutionary War, both the American Continental Army and the British Army employed light dragoons, which were highly mobile, mounted cavalry scouting units.
