Vintage Calabash pipe, and pipe holder. Calabash pipes are known for their distinctive shape and use of a gourd body. The bowl is either ceramic or meerschaum, a porous mineral. The Calabash pipe shape is often associated with Sherlock Holmes, though he originally smoked other pipe types in the books. The gourd's hollow chamber allows smoke to cool and condense, providing a cooler, drier smoking experience. Both the pipe and stand appear to be in nice vintage condition.
