Vintage Lot of 7 - 1940s 14" String Marionette Puppet Paper Mache & Cloth

I am not a puppet or marionette expert. However, I know a lot about vintage fabric, which is how I dated these string puppets to the 1940s. There are some early synthetics in the bunch, which began appearing in the mid-1940s 
They are well made -- with cloth bodies that are in strong condition. Six have paper mache faces, one has a cloth face. Two faces in particular need a little TLC, with one needing a paint refresh, and the other needing a touch-up to a beard. One of them has some raggedy clothes as well -- I'm not sure if this was intentional, it's possible he's meant to be a peasant. And the brown clothes on two of the figures have some fabric loss. 
The characters strike me as provincial world war two people -- bakers, perhaps a peasant, a figure in with a gun and what could be a uniform, and women in dresses. 
They have long black strings, each with a flat wooden dowel. -- the dowels also strike me as pretty old, but they are strong.
