Emmett Kelly was a gifted entertainer who gained world fame as the hobo clown, Weary Willie. He and his family moved to a farm near Houston, Missouri when he was six. At the age of 19, Kelly went to Kansas City with the dream of becoming a professional cartoonist.

Peru, which calls itself Circus City, was the headquarters of major circuses, from the Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show, which toured from the 1893 to 1913, to the famous Ringling Brothers and its big top.

(November 13, 1924 – November 29, 2006) was an American clown. He was the son of Emmett Kelly Sr., who was a legendary circus clown. Kelly Jr. copied his father's style.
