What do you get when you cross a vein of molten volcanic glass with a pocket of Magnetite crystals? You get a very special material called Fire Obsidian or Fire Magnetite. This improbable ocurrence has only been discovered in one location on the planet. That locality is Glass Butte, Oregon. Fire Obsidian! Its composed of nano crystals of magnetite that have actually melted into the then super heated obsidian. Incredible! This is extremely rare material and is by far the rarest type of obsidian on the planet. This is particularly difficult material to properly cut and polish requiring a particularly fine final polish and special equipment to do it right. This is a finished piece and it looks great! It is untreated and is transparent.
