A super rare and absolutely gorgeous Untreated Contra Luz Fire Opal from the Magdalena Mine in Mexico. Unlike most Opal whose flash is on the surface of the gem, Contra Luz Opal has internal flashes of color. How is this possible? A second mineral called rutile (which is highly reflective) has little nanocrystals included within the Opal that have superheated and melted creating this incredible light dispersion only seen in Mexican Opals.
