PERFECTLY FLAWED FABRIC:
This pillow cover is made using one of the most distinctive textiles - mud cloth made by the Bambara/Bamana people of Mali, West Africa. Mudcloth is made of strips of hand-loomed cotton cloths that are hand-stitched together. They are softened and dyed in small vats of organic botanicals that includes leaves, bark, and fermented river mud. Symbolic imagery are often painted using sticks and stencils.
This mudcloth is thick with a soft hand. The imperfections of the weave, dye, stitch, and painted design are a natural characteristic, and serve to enhance the individual uniqueness and charm of each handmade tribal textile.
