An absolutely stunning display piece, this prayer wheel features exquisite detail on the (untested) silver exterior with inlaid stones and complete with spinning weight. Inside are two prayer scrolls inscribed with mantras. Its wooden handle has been lost to time. Measures about 8" long.

The Prayer Wheel, sometimes referred to as a "mani korlo" or mani wheel, is a ritual object of the Buddhist Himalayas, Nepal, Ladakh and Tibet along with other regions influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. Mention is made of the Prayer Wheel in the Mani Kabum, an apocryphal Tibetan text dated to the 11th to 13th century. Each turn of the wheel is believed to activate the prayers and spread spiritual energy, promoting peace, compassion, and enlightenment. It also represents the Wheel of the Law (Dharma) set in motion by the Buddha.
