Alunite Mineral Specimen From the eastern flank of Mt Skukum in 1997 Located in the Wheaton River Valley Southern Yukon Territory of Canada. This specimen was recovered from a ridge above the Main Cirque gold vein orebody and measures at 3.25" x 2.5" x 2" and weighs 392.8 grams. This stone has beautiful pink peach cream purple and orange mottled colors and has been cut with a diamond bladed saw to expose 2 faces with the orangish rusty color rind present. Alunite is an aluminum potassium sulfate mineral found in volcanic rocks such as rhyolite and andesite and has been historically mined for industrial uses, however in this case the Alunite formed as a cap over a rich gold deposit.
