This is a Native American Santa Clara bowl hand made by Denny Gutierrez, of Santa Clara Pueblo. This is a beautiful vase with black on black feathers painted around it and a stone polish that is almost as clear as a mirror. It measures approximately 5 x 5".

Denny learned to make pottery from his mother, Katherine Gutierrez. His sister JoAnn Million and aunt Clara Stone are also well-known potters. Denny Gutierrez created his distinctive "faceted melon bowl" style in the 1990s. From 2000 to 2004, he was governor of Santa Clara Pueblo. His pottery won numerous awards at Santa Fe Indian Market over the years and added a new dimension to the pottery's ribbed or melon bowl style.
