Two volume set from the first authorized American edition of Darwin's work. This collection of letters is bound in three-quarter leather with marbled boards. Gilt titles on spine, gilt on top edge. Books are in good solid condition overall; some wear to leather along the edges, heaviest at corners. Wear near hinges, but bindings are solid. Former owner's name present in pencil, otherwise pages are just slightly browned. Each volume contains approximately 560 indexed pages. 5 x 7.5 inches each.
