Leather-bound books Volumes II and III of The 1870 publication of The Works of Thomas Hood (1799-1845). William Michael Rossetti in 1903 called him "the finest English poet" between the generations of Shelley and Tennyson.

This edition was edited by the author’s children, playwright and humorist Tom Hood (1835–1874) and the children's writer Frances Freeling Broderip (1830–1878).

These books are richly, and humorously illustrated throughout and offer a rare glimpse at Victorian humor and literature.

The boards are somewhat worn as shown and there is some foxing throughout as is to be expected given that the books are about 150 years old.
